In the pantheon of great Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Thor: The Dark World is not among them. This has been no secret to any fan of Marvel movies, as it continually ranks among the worst MCU movies. As for the star of the movie Chris Hemsworth, he is finally joining fans and admitting the movie plainly sucks.
In a recent interview with GQ, Chris Hemsworth got to talking about his most iconic role—that being the muscular Norse god Thor—when he opened up and admitted the second one is not that great.
“The first one [Thor] is good, the second one is meh,” said Hemsworth. “What masculinity was, the classic archetype—it all just starts to feel very familiar. I was so aware that we were right on the edge.”
Actors are usually tight lipped about movies they are a part of that aren’t any good. That’s what makes Chris Hemsworth’s openness about Thor: The Dark World so refreshing. It is true the movie was “meh;” even the studio admitted so by throwing Thor’s thematic style to the trash by starting brand new in Thor: Ragnarok, with director Taika Waititi and explored the comedic side of the character.
The change paid off and Thor: Ragnarok is now seen as one of the best MCU movies to date.
Now that we are all on the same page that Thor: The Dark World sucks, we can move on to more pressing issues like what exactly what is going to happen in Avengers 4 where Thor figures to play a huge role.
