Before taking the decision to focus on just one flagship smartphone, OnePlus had other ideas for new devices. One of those was its very own smartwatch, and the sketch above reveals for the first time what the OnePlus watch might have looked like.

Posted on Twitter by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, these design drawings from 2015 give us a glimpse at some of the ideas the Chinese startup had for its first wearable. All of its designs have a round face, and one unique feature.

The OnePlus watch was clearly designed to have a removable face, rather than just swappable straps. This probably would have made changing bands a little easier, and possibly could have allowed users to pair the device with different accessories.

Sadly, we'll never get to find out what that might be like. "What could have been but never will be," Pei said on Twitter.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed during an interview back in January that his company "completed the design [of the watch] but we still decided to scrap it… We have to be focused."

Being focused on one product does have its benefits; OnePlus has been able to eliminate its dreaded invite system for the OnePlus 3, allowing fans to purchase the device as soon as they are ready to do so.
