The second season of Telltale Games's popular The Walking Dead adventure might not be out until fall—of 2014. It'll be a long, long time before we know the fate of poor little Clementine.

Speaking with Eurogamer at the BAFTA awards, Telltale CEO Dan Connors said the company is "aiming for fall next year," but didn't offer anything beyond that. You haven't misheard. Connors didn't elaborate as to why it will take the company so long to produce the next season; it could be a number of reasons. Whatever the case may be, it's a long, torturous wait for fans of the series.

In the interim, however, there may be additional content to tide fans over, according to series writer Gary Whitta. Again, no further details were shared, and we don't know how much the story will be expanded upon since it won't be season two. But Telltale is in the very early stages of continuing where it left off, which is good to hear. We just have a long, long, long way to go.

Update: It sounds like Connors misspoke. According to a Telltale representative, the company is aiming for this fall, in 2013, and not next. Phew.
