I received my first video game console, an Atari 2600, in the early 80s. At the time the gaming system made me one of the coolest kids on my block, a title which I soon lost when the guy next door got a Nintendo for his birthday. The video game industry grew pretty quickly after that, and while I remember a childhood of Ms.PacMan and Mario with kids in my neighborhood, many kids today will have video game memories of playing first-person shooters online with friends across the country.

To show how gaming has changed throughout the years the guys at Rounds made this infographic. There’s tons of pretty interesting info in here, including stats like the fact the 26 million people play social games on mobile devices, and by 2012 148 million households are expected to have a gaming console connected to the internet in their home.
