Netflix has released a fresh teaser for The Punisher Season 2, giving us a premiere date and a new look at Jigsaw. The video follows another teaser that showed Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) burning the pardon he received at the end of season one.
Despite its short length, the newest teaser is actually pretty brutal. Not in a physical or violent way, but emotionally. It’s clear that Billy Russo’s descent into madness will drive Frank back into a life of vigilantism.
“You need to let me be what I’m meant to be,” Frank says in the teaser. “I’m not the one who dies. I’m the one who does the killing.”
Here’s the second season’s official synopsis:
Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as “The Punisher.” Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.
The cast also features Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Jason R. Moore (Curtis), Josh Stewart (John Pilgrim), and Floriana Lima (Dr. Krista Dumont).
It’s unclear how much longer Netflix’s series will exist, as the streaming service has already cancelled Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil. All that’s left at this point is The Punisher and Jessica Jones.
The Punisher Season 2 is set to hit Netflix on January 18.
