Pokémon games have been rumored for a Nintendo NX release for quite some time, and just today, The Pokémon Company president commited himself and his company to develop for whatever it is Nintendo has in store.

Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, The Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara recently gave his opinion on the upcoming NX console, throwing even more speculation onto the rumors that it will be a hybrid console that combines home consoles and handheld devices.

The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device. We will make games for the NX.

Ishihara stopped short of confirming the release of a Pokémon game close to the launch of the Nintendo NX next spring.

To date, all of the main Pokémon games have been released for Nintendo’s Game Boy and Nintendo DS handheld platforms. Many spin-offs have also been created for all home consoles, but if the NX wants to “change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device,” it’s very likely we’ll see future main Pokémon games release for it.

This is especially true if Nintendo is looking to consolidate its games onto a single device. The Pokémon Company will have nowhere else to turn to release its money-making franchise.

Rumors upon rumors continue to pile on the Nintendo NX, and excitement is building quickly. We have about a month to wait before we finally see what it is, and with the potential promise of more Pokémonthat wait has just become that much longer.
