ABC has ordered The Muppets to stick around just a little longer. The network has now signed the show for three more episodes, and that means the first seasons has 16 episodes in total.

The Muppets won a lot of hearts and minds early with its unveiling and teaser. Its pilot did well with ratings, too. Since then, the show has slipped a bit for the opening slot on Tuesday nights. It’s being beat by the new ABC show that comes after, Fresh Off the Boat.

I’m a huge fan of the Muppets, like so many other folks my age. I grew up with them, I regularly watch the flicks and I’m passing that “wisdom” on to my kid. I’m really mixed on the new show. It’s funny at times, but I spend more time waiting for jokes during really lame plot points than actually laughing.

I want this show to succeed, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not sure we’ll see it renewed again. ABC’s current plans are for it to enjoy a limited run before leaving TV. That’s probably what will happen.
