The Martian Trailer 1 - 32

Despite several new movies coming out this week, nothing seems to have caught on to significantly change up the top five this week.

1. The Martian

The Martian regained the top spot at the box office this weekend as the new releases failed to scare up much business. The Ridley Scott film took in $15.9M for a new domestic total of $166.35M off of its $108M budget. Globally it has hit $384.35M.

2. Goosebumps

Goosebumps fell to second place, but it only lost 34.4 percent from its opening weekend which in Hollywood terms is a very healthy decline. It took in $15.5M for a new total of $43.71M off of its $58M budget.

3. Bridge of Spies

Steven Spielberg’s latest film, Bridge of Spies, held on to third place with only a 26.1 percent from its opening weekend. It ook in $11.36M for a new total of $32.58M off of its $40M budget.

4. The Last Witch Hunter

Vin Diesel’s latest film, The Last Witch Hunter, opened to a fairly weak $10.82M off of a $90M budget. Not a good start for the film, and it’s doubtful it will gain.

5. Hotel Transylvania 2

Rounding out the top five was Hotel Transylvania 2 with $9M and a new domestic total of $149.2M, and a global total of $315.79M. It’s still outpacing the original film in the U.S., so all things point to this franchise having some life to it.
