One of the things about the original Wind Waker that makes it so special is its ability to age incredibly well. The art style selected by Nintendo, and their execution of it, makes it one of the most timeless games this medium has ever seen.

Still, pushing that cartoon look into high resolution graphics will do wonders. There are those who take pause when it comes to Nintendo’s use of bloom, though I don’t count myself among them. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD looks fantastic in my opinion, and I can’t wait to play it.

The trailer at the head of this post, as you quickly notice, comes from Japan. It compares the Wii U version of Wind Waker to the classic, standard definition game we all played 10 years ago. The difference is remarkable.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will sell in physical form on October 4th, 2013. If you don’t mind going digital for your games, you’ll be able to purchase this remake from the Wii U’s eShop on September 20th. Make sure you have 2.6GB of free space on your system, though.
