In order to celebrate The Legend of Zelda‘s 30 years on planet Earth, two fans created this really interesting voxel tribute of the original NES game. Scott Liniger and Mike Magee have launched The Legend of Zelda: 30 Year Tribute as a browser game. It’s awesome, and you can play it right now.
UPDATE: Nintendo has pulled the link. Here’s one you can play.
While the art, tunes and, well, game are all basically the original, the tribute text replaces some stuff like Link with, well, Scott. Here’s what it says as it scrolls by.

“SCOTT” PLAYED THE GREAT
GOLDEN CARTRIDGE WITH LOVE.
LATER LORDS OF BROWSER MADE

How long until Nintendo takes this down? We’re not sure. It’s been up for a few days now, though, so maybe the company has decided its had enough negative press for a while.
