So we went nearly a decade without so much as a peep from The Last Guardian, and now that we know it’s coming again thanks to the E3 2015 announcement, people are once again paranoid when it doesn’t reveal anything new at each passing convention.

“Where’s the new footage?” “We’ve seen this one already!” “Here we go again!”

Relax. Sony is not going to let that elephant giant Chihuahua thing sit in the corner like that ever again. We’ve heard the promises like this from Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida before, but this time, I think its safe to believe him when he says “development is going well.” He has addressed The Last Guardian’s latest absences in a statement to Gamespot.

“Development is going well, but because it’s all about the story, we don’t want to show too much. We wanted to show that it exists, it works, it runs. It’s not like we won’t show anything before launch, but I think we will try to limit what we show about the game.”

So you might not be seeing The Last Guardian much before it goes live, but that’s okay. I think I’m going to avoid any trailers from here on out anyway because I want to witness it with my own eyes when I finally play it. I realize games and entertainment in general are all about knowing everything before you jump in, but try to take a risk on something mysterious. You might find that you like not knowing every detail that’s coming.

And don’t worry about The Last Guardian not showing up at conventions. We have enough practice dealing with that heartache.
