In an effort to raise awareness for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney will allegedly attach a post credits scene to Episode VII teasing the spinoff film. This would be the first Star Wars movie to include an end credits scene, but given how popular the practice has become, it’s not all that surprising.

The information comes by way of Schmoes Know (Heroic Hollywood corroborates the rumor), though the site cautions that this is still very much in “rumor” territory. Be that as it may, it makes sense. Spinning off the Star Wars universe is a huge gamble for Disney, so it will want to inform as many people as possible that Rogue One exists.

What’s a little strange is that Disney would be teasing a film that takes place well before The Force Awakens. Rogue One is set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope; there’s a chance people might mistake it for footage of Episode VIII, which doesn’t come out until 2017. Disney will need to be careful how it presents the footage.

Rogue One is expected to have a different tone compared to the new trilogy, ditching the sci-fi and Force elements in favor of a grittier tone. Even the first image of the cast together gives you the impression that this won’t be your usual Star Wars fare. When Rogue One does hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2016, it’ll focus on a group of Rebel fighters as they attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star.
