NPD Group's monthly assessment of the gaming industry was released this week, reporting this year's top titles. Call of Duty: Black Ops was the obvious winner, selling 12 million units, while Madden 11 took second with a combined 6 million units across all platforms.

Here are some important facts to make note of:

– Only one Nintendo DS game made it into the top ten, and that was on the individual platform list.
– Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Fit Plus, and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were all released in 2009.
– Nintendo's offerings took up five of the top ten spots. – No PlayStation 3-exclusive titles made it into the top ten.
