Jeep just took the wraps off the 2017 Compass, its compact SUV, revealing many great additions to the new model. The new Compass is a combination of power and sophistication with improved driving capabilities and an interior filled with premium finishes.

The Compass is powered by a 2.4-liter four cylinder Tigershark engine capable of delivering up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. It will be good enough for 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft of torque, Jeep said.

There are two versions available of the driving system: the Jeep Active Drive (full-time 4×4 system) and Jeep Active Drive Low (class-exclusive full-time 4×4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio). That latter will only be available in the off-roading Trailhawk model. It is available with three different transmissions: a 9-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

Inside, the Compass is also looking great with premium finishes. It features an open-air dual-pane sunroof, optional 7-inch digital instrument cluster and optional 8.4-inch center console display. The new models will also come equipped with Jeep’s Uconnect systems, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

The 2017 Jeep Compass will be available in four different trims: the Limited, Trailhawk, Latitude and Sport and will start at $20,995. It will be built in Brazil, China, Mexico and India.

The perfect blend of sophistication and ruggedness

Jeeps have always been know for their off-roading prowess. Its classic 4×4 architecture is perfect for bulldozing through rugged terrain. But the new models also offer great new interior with premium finishes and tech options.

The Trailhawk model in particular will have 17-inch off-road tires, unique body facia, hill-descent control and 2,000 lbs. of towing capabilities that will be perfect for exploring tough terrain.
