Tesla is going to release the Model 3 in the coming years, but it’s also building another car. A new report from The Wall Street Journal claims the automaker is also hoping to unleash a crossover once the Model 3 is released, which would come in addition to the company’s planned Model X (pictured above.)

That will give Tesla a high-end full-size luxury vehicle, an affordable sedan, an SUV and a crossover. And there are reportedly more on the way. With battery costs on the decline, Tesla is allegedly confident electric vehicles will become the preferred technology in the coming years.

Tesla hasn’t yet announced any plans to unveil a crossover, and has only shared a few details about the Model 3, which is said to start at around $35,000. The Model 3 is expected to have a range of about 200 miles, but isn’t planned to go one sale for a few more years at the earliest.

With a crossover in its lineup, Tesla would have a more diverse and competitive portfolio, showing that it isn’t only focused on the high-end market. If the Model X, which should go on sale this year, isn’t quite in your price range, perhaps the new crossover will be.

We’ll stay on the lookout for confirmation from Tesla.
