Tesla’s Model X is just about ready to hit the road, so it’s time to start looking forward to the company’s next electric car. The cheaper Model 3 is still shrouded in mystery, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed some pretty big details this week on Twitter.

Musk has previously hinted that the Model 3 could cost around $35,000, but it’s nice to see that price locked in. Back in May he also said the company was hoping for a March 2016 unveiling, but added that it might get pushed back to 2017. Thankfully, it looks like development on the more affordable electric vehicle is still on track.

As for those pre-orders, it’s pretty crazy to imagine buying a product that won’t ship for two full years. Then again, Tesla’s die-hard fans probably won’t think twice before reserving their new cars. Those pre-order payments will likely also help speed production along.

Last month we saw what might have been an obscured early build of the Model 3 in a clip from 60 Minutes. We still don’t really know what to expect, though based on Tesla’s history we’re guessing the more affordable car will offer a pretty unique design of its own.

March 2016 can’t come soon enough, but for now check out those alleged Model 3 photos below.
