t-mobile iPhone 6 pre-order

As pre-orders kicked off for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, one carrier was conspicuously missing from the festivities: T-Mobile.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus kicked off at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time this morning, and while most carriers struggled to keep their sites online from the crush of traffic, T-Mobile maintained the status quo by simply displaying a banner that said pre-orders would begin on Sept. 12. Even as the U.S. Apple Store drove fans to insanity with a rotating scroll of "We'll Be Right Back" messages, it finally came up around 2:23 a.m. T-Mobile, meanwhile, was still displaying the banner as of 2:53 a.m. when we took the screenshot you see in this post.

To be fair, T-Mobile never said it would launch the pre-orders at 12:01 a.m., but with every other carrier launching at that time, and the Apple Store announcing it as well, it wasn't a stretch of the imagination to think T-Mobile would do so as well. For all we know at this moment in time, the UnCarrier may never have planned to do a 12:01 launch, but it could have at least communicated that information to its customers instead of letting them stay up through the night and grow increasingly frustrated.

There is almost sure to be some sort of comment from T-Mobile CEO John Legere at some junction this morning, but until that happens, customers are left with either purchasing through the Apple Store itself or endlessly refreshing the carrier's site.

UPDATE: While T-Mobile didn't state the time on its site, T-Mobile executives and its official Twitter account did indeed tweet the 12:01 a.m. Pacific launch time.
