T-Mobile on Wednesday announced a handful of new budget devices, including the Alcatel One Touch Fierce and One Touch Evolve, Samsung Galaxy Light, and Samsung LTE Mobile HotSpot Pro. Each device, with the exception of the hotspot, combines entry-point pricing with low-end specs. The hope is that consumers looking for their very first smartphone, and want to take advantage of T-Mobile’s affordable Simple Choice Plan, will choose among the trio of new devices.

Alcatel One Touch senior vice president of North America, Steve Cistulli, said its new Fierce and Evolve devices “fit several types of consumer lifestyles” and eliminate the difficulty of deciding “between looks, performance and price.” Cistulli suggests that both budget-friendly devices offer all three.

Specs for the Fierce include a 4.5-inch TFT display (540×960), Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589M quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory (microSD expandable to 32GB), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1,800mAh battery and a slew of pre-loaded customized apps.

Moving onto the Evolve, the device includes a 4-inch TFT display (480×800), a 1GHz MediaTek MT6575 single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory (microSD expandable to 32GB), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1,400mAh battery and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

If you’re more inclined to stick with the Samsung brand, the company’s Galaxy Light device sports a 4-inch WVGA TFT display (480×800), a 1.4GHz quad-core Samsung Shannon222AP chip, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory (microSD expandable up to 64GB), a 5-megapixel camera, NFC, a 1,800mAh battery and Bluetooth 4.0. Additionally, Samsung’s hotspot device, which goes for $49.99 down and 24 monthly payments of $5, is available beginning today.

The One Touch Evolve will be available through T-Mobile stores on Oct. 16 for $27.99 with 24 equal monthly payments of $3, while the Fierce will be available on Oct. 23 for $19.99 down with 24 equal monthly payments of $6. No word on price or availability of the Galaxy Light, though more information will likely come soon.
