We’re just barely recovering from HTC’s One (M8) release—which by the way is currently our favorite flagship smartphone this year—but it looks like the company is already looking ahead to what’s next. In addition to HTC teasing “More beautiful curves” are coming soon on Twitter, a picture by Evleaks suggests the M8 Prime is very much a real product, and might be getting a big upgrade in the camera department.
In the photo, we get a look at what appears to be the M8’s Duo camera layout, though it’s quite obviously different from what’s available on the M8. The antenna band goes through the second depth sensor, for one, but the UltraPixel lens (or whatever it’ll be called) now protrudes out from the device, covered by an orange ring—that to us suggests it’ll be bumped up in terms of quality. No information was shared in the Tweet, but Evleaks did say the Prime device would be coming soon—that could be as little as a few weeks or a few months. Last we heard was the handset would come out in September.
Other alleged features coming to the M8 Prime include a “composite aluminum and liquid silicone build, waterproof body, Snapdragon 805 processor, 5.5-inch 2K display and 3GB of RAM. That certainly sounds like a super phone if we’ve ever heard of one. But so soon after HTC released its “normal” M8? This might be a case of these big companies really underestimating LG, which has a handset coming out this month with some major upgrades in terms of design and specs.
If the M8 Prime is indeed coming soon, we expect plenty more information to leak out in the coming days and week. We’ll bring that to you as soon as it hits.
