A new batch of screenshots from Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS doesn’t introduce any new controllable characters, but there’s always plenty to see in the eternal battleground of the Nintendo Universe.
Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man are all mascots from a more civilized age, and finally, the three appear in an official screenshot together for the first time. This is a moment you would have never been able to convince me of back when I was a five-year-old blossoming Nintendo lover. “Mario, Sonic and Mega Man in the same game? You’re crazy!”
In the meantime, Link and Toon Link join forces to lay the smack down, or smack up really, on poor Donkey Kong, and Captain Olimar and Luigi both join a workout session with the Wii Fit Trainer. Guess who is unable to keep up with her.
I was never impressed with how Masahiro Sakurai’s design for Toon Link clashed with the rest of the characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but now, he seems to be one which fits into place more with the real Link sort of standing out as a realistic oddball.
And Mega Man’s faithful robotic companion, Rush, finally gets a few more glamor shots, shown using his classic Rush Coil function to give the blue Bomber a boost in his jumping contest with Sonic. He also enjoys hanging out with Luigi, but then again, who doesn’t enjoy hanging out with Luigi? He only smells a little bit.
Fox McCloud has also been relatively silent since the debut of this game, but he shows up here packing heat and pulling off some sweet Matrix moves in a showdown with Kid Icarus‘ Pit. Fox’s model is a little dark and scary I think.
There is always fun and exciting new screenshots from Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS, so be sure to check in from time to time on the most classic video game characters and their never ending fisticuffs. I just hope it gets a title soon because I am tired of writing out that long explanation.
