Series Creator and Director Masahiro Sakurai has shared some information regarding a brand new stage in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.; specifically, Sakurai touches on the side-scrolling nature of said stage.
The Nintendo 3DS will see a level dedicated to Super Mario 3D Land, one of the best games for the platform. You can see each of the four fresh images shared by Sakurai on the Miiverse in the gallery at the head of this post.
Sakurai provided comments for each image, and we’ve put them together in one spot below. The lines each correspond to the order of the imagers in the gallery up top.
Here’s some info on the Nintendo 3DS stage called Super Mario 3D Land! First, it advances by side-scrolling…
Then you continue into the valley–it’s in 3D Land, after all. The protruding stone blocks change the angles of the platforms.
After that, back to side-scrolling. Now it gets you moving–you’ll have to trot downhill here.
And finally, you get back on rails to go farther into the stage. It takes roughly two minutes to complete a lap, and at the end you go into a giant pipe that takes you back to the beginning. …I know this sequence goes above and beyond a traditional Pic of the Day, so consider this a little something extra on the side from me.
It’s teases like this one that makes me think a lot of gamers will wind up grabbing both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros.. Both titles have exclusive content and stages, and they each look pretty interesting in their own regard.
What do you think of the Super Mario 3D Land stage here? Is it something you think you’ll enjoy playing? I’ve always dug the more mobile stages in Smash Bros. games.
