Masahiro Sakurai has taken to the Miiverse yet again to reveal a brand new, enticing tidbit about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The Wii U version of the game, at least that’s the one we know about so far, will feature a Super Mario Galaxy themed stage.
The screenshot that you see at the head of this post was a part of the announcement.
Here’s a piece of the initial Miiverse post from Sakurai:
A new stage, Mario Galaxy!! The pull of gravity emanates from the center of the planet, so this will require using brand-new tactics.
Then, in the comments, Sakurai posted the picture directly above this line alongside this note:
Here’s what happens when you stand by the edges. Vertical jumps and getting hit upward will shoot you up diagonally.
Originally released in 2007, the Super Mario Galaxy duo of games quickly placed themselves in the halls of Nintendo glory through their unique nature and awesome gameplay. That series is a fan-favorite, and seeing it in Super Smash Bros. will delight the Nintendo faithful.
What do you think of the Mario Galaxy stage and its inherent twist on gameplay mechanics thanks to gravity?
