I’ve been looking forward to Super Mario Maker‘s release ever since its initial announcement. This overview video, though, has me pretty darn excited.

The clip goes over what it takes to make Super Mario Maker levels, the themes at your disposal, the unlocking progress of tools, the use of amiibo in the game and how uploading, sharing and following will work.

That’s right, the middle of that list you just read mentioned unlocking tools. Not all tools will be available on day one. No. Based on the video, it appears that it’ll take at least nine days to unlock all of the props you can use in Super Mario Maker. Nintendo’s reasoning seems simple enough: they want users to learn how to use everything they have in front of them before unlocking more.

Honestly, I can get behind that. A wealth of design options that I’ve never used before is daunting. Rolling out new supplies a few days at a time actually sounds really nice to me. It’ll definitely improve my design skill, I can guarantee that much.

Super Mario Maker will sell for the Wii U on September 11, 2015. We’ll have more on the game as it comes.
