This is such a weird Virtual Console release from Nintendo.

Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is now available on the service, and you can see it in motion in the video above. If you're unfamiliar with the exact titling of the Mario series, but you've played all the major games, you might think this is the SNES classic Super Mario World. Well, it sort of is.

Except it's not. This is the GBA port of the SNES classic. The game was tweaked, downgraded in a few ways, bug fixed in others, the map changes colors towards autumn, single players can start as Luigi, Bullet Bill has been swapped for Pidgit Bill… you get the gist.

The real appeal of the game was getting it on the go (or for the first time if you never owned an SNES) on the GBA. As a release on the Wii U's Virtual Console, the only sense I can make of this is for collectors. The SNES version is available on the service for $7.99.

Anyone else find this one weird?
