On Friday, Capcom announced a brand new Street Fighter V fighter named Rashid at a tournament in Dubai. Off-screen pics of the reveal leaked onto the net, and now Capcom has some official gameplay footage and screencaps to show off.

Rashid relies heavily on attacking with the wind. He can control it to form deadly projectiles, and the twisters he creates also increase his spinning speed to to pull off fast rotational punches. Another obvious trait of Rashid is his jumping and flips. Much like Vega and Chun-Li, he can bounce off walls, giving him an easy out if backed into a corner, and his flips are also a bit awkward. The unbalanced rotations confuse opponents about where he will land or where an attack might come from.

He’s an exciting fighter, and I’m a big fan of his design. Capcom seems to really enjoy playing as him as well.

Hailing from the Middle East, Rashid is a fun, easy going individual who has an affinity for technology. Although his fighting style is casual, it’s anything but laid back! Using the power of wind, Rashid is definitely one of the more difficult characters to catch.

Rashid throws out a slow moving whirlwind that closes in on the opponent and causes damage to them if they touch it. While the whirlwind is out, Rashid can use it to increase his movement on any attack that propels him forward.

Street Fighter V will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC in March 2016.
