The PlayStation Blog has two huge pieces of news regarding Street Fighter V today! Capcom has announced plans to launch a beta test, and fan-favorite MIA character Charlie Nash makes his grand return to the video game scene for the first time since 1996.

In regards to the beta test, it will be available for both the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game. Anybody who pre-orders Street Fighter V will automatically be registered to participate once it goes live. Capcom hypes it as “the largest and most ambitious online beta program in franchise history.”

These tests will be essential to collect your feedback and to ensure that Street Fighter V is the best iteration yet.

Capcom also took the time to reveal Charlie Nash and his rearranged face. For those who don’t remember, Guile’s best buddy bit the dust at the hands of M. Bison and the minigun of his helicopter in the closing cutscene of Street Fighter Alpha 2. He has been presumed dead ever since, even though hints of his continued existence pop up in the series lore now and then.

Now that he is back, he has the scars to prove that his return wasn’t easy. His face has literally been stitched back together with what looks like a piece of black leather being held on by a few flimsy pieces of scotch tape. His eye socket also appears to be perfectly capable of preserving an organic and operating human eye. Because science! Anyone?

This man is supposed to be taking part in a fighting tournament, and his head looks ready to cave in before the fights even begin! I wonder if the scientists thought about this when choosing the materials to rebuild him with.

In addition to the screenshots, we also have a new trailer showing off his gameplay debut. Street Fighter V will launch in 2015 for the PC and PlayStation 4, and it will be powered by the Unreal Engine 4, similar to Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7.
