Fans of Stranger Things will have to wait longer than usual before the next season hits Netflix. But, don’t worry, because it’s going to be worth the wait, according to Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association this past weekend, Holland confirmed the show will hit Netflix next summer, as hinted by the recent teaser. But there’s a very good reason for the delay: the Duffer brothers want to make the upcoming season the best it can be.
“Well, it’s a hand-crafted show,” Holland said. “You know, the Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so, they really want to take the time to get it right. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic season, it’s gonna be worth the wait.”
Holland is right when she says the stakes are high. Outside of HBO’s Game of Thrones, there’s no other show right now that’s more anticipated. It will suck to wait another 12 months (give or take) until Stranger Things season 3 is released, but audiences demand a quality product; that means more time needs to be put into making it.
Stranger Things season 2 was a bit of a mixed bag, but excitement for the show couldn’t be higher. Until we learn more about the upcoming season, you can watch a teaser that shows poor Steve working a summer job at a new mall in Hawkins, Indiana.
