One of pop culture's most anticipated events is undoubtedly the return of Stranger things, the sci-fi Netflix original that took the world by storm last year. And to tease the show's October 27 premiere, Netflix on Tuesday released an ominous poster teasing the arrival of some kind of spider monster.

The creature made its first appearance in a short teaser released earlier this year. We don't know what it is, but we do know it'll terrorize the citizens (including poor Will) of Hawkins, Indiana when the show returns.

As many have pointed out, the poster is very reminiscent of artwork used for movies based on work by Stephen King. Not that that's a bad thing. Much of Stranger Things' draw is its nostalgia for the 1980s, so it makes sense the poster would conjure up emotions for that era.

Very little is known about the show's second season, though it will supposedly be much scarier this time around. Anytime you have a spider monster emerging from a hellish storm, you're going to have a scary show.

Aside from the return of Game of Thrones on July 16, the second season of Stranger Things is perhaps this year's biggest TV event. When it launched last year, it was universally praised for its portrayal of friendship and throwback to horror movies of the '80s.

Stranger Things season 2 hits Netflix on October 27.
