Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins is leaving no doubt over the return of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine). Jenkins shared an image from the film on Wednesday, revealing Trevor in a fantastic ‘80s outfit (Wonder Woman 1984 takes place in 1984).

In the image, Trevor doesn’t look particularly comfortable in his surroundings—maybe he’s not a fan of the fashion? Or maybe he’s confused as to why he’s alive in a completely different decade. Either way, the image confirms the return of a character who we saw perish in the first film.

Unfortunately, Jenkins doesn’t reveal details behind Trevor’s involvement. How can Trevor possibly be alive? Is Diana imagining this scene? Or, like in the comics, is this a descendant of Trevor? That last one seems unlikely, because it would probably confuse audiences.

Trevor was an important part of the first film, so it’s no surprise to see him returning for the sequel. However, now that he is alive, does that lessen his sacrifice he made in Wonder Woman? Does Diana even know that he’s alive? And is he alive during the events of Justice League and beyond?

So many questions, so few answers. Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled for a release on November 1, 2019, so it’ll be a while before we have definitive answers. We can at least rest assured knowing Trevor’s sartorial choices are on point.
