- Lucasfilm revealed new Sith troopers coming to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
- They look like red Stormtroopers, with some inspiration from Clone troopers.
- The Sith trooper armor will be on display at San Diego Comic Con.
They're red; like, really red.
Ahead of San Diego Comic Con next week, Lucasfilm shared a brief glimpse at the Sith trooper design, a new evolution of the Imperial/First Order soldiers.
"It has come really unique aesthetics to it," said Madlyn Burkert, Lucasfilm archivist. "And it has some subtle ties to previous stormtrooper designs, which I think fans will enjoy discovering."
We've seen some red designs in Star Wars before, including the Praetorian guards from The Last Jedi. But they have always looked so distinctly different from the traditional stormtrooper.
According to Burkert, the new Sith trooper armor will be on display at the Lucasfilm pavilion when San Diego Comic Con kicks off next week (July 18-21), along with other trooper armor from across the Star Wars universe.
"We're really excited to show this design history," Burkert said. "It takes us from the beginnings of Star Wars and leads us right to the final chapter of the Skywalker saga."
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
