Vanity Fair dropped several new details for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, confirming new characters, planets, and the return of the Knights of Ren, the latter of whom we briefly saw in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
According to the report, the mysterious group will have a role to play in The Rise of Skywalker, although it isn't clear how much they'll factor into the story. It isn't even clear if the Knights of Ren will be working with Kylo Ren again, considering they didn't show up in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
If you're unfamiliar, the Knights of Ren are a dangerous group of masked warriors led by Kylo Ren. Audiences got a brief glimpse of them in Rey's flashback sequence in The Force Awakens, appearing on a rain-soaked planet surrounded by slaughtered bodies.
In Vanity Fair's report, there's a photo of the Knights of Ren on a desert planet known as Pasana, which is where a lot of the action takes place in the trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Perhaps they've been sent by Kylo Ren to hunt down Rey and the remaining Resistance fighters.
The report also goes on to confirm other details, including the character being played by Keri Russell, who didn't make an appearance at the recent Star Wars Celebration.
Russell will play a masked scoundrel known as Zorri Bliss, who plies her trade on a snowy planet called Kijimi. Meanwhile, Richard E. Grant's character is named Allegiant General Pryde, and appears to play an officer in the First Order.
There's plenty more wonderful insight into Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in the Vanity Fair preview, including some awesome photos snapped by legendary photography Annie Leibovitz.
