When it comes to DICE’s Battlefield line fans have come to expect a certain level of destructibility in multiplayer matches. Buildings, walls and all manner of cover crumble when fired upon, and that both creates a nice strategic take on each map while also offering some pretty cool effects.

Now, DICE is working on the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront, but a chat with Engadget indicates that destruction won’t be quite as much of a focal point as it is in Battlefield.

DICE General Manager Patrick Bach indicated that “Star Wars, as an [intellectual property], is shaping what we’re doing.” He goes on to explain that the team “won’t do excessive destruction just because we can. It’s more about ‘what do you need and what you want’ in a Battlefield game versus a Battlefront game.”

The official Battlefront Twitter account reiterated that bit about using destruction where it makes sense as well.

On one hand, I love the destruction that DICE does. I think it’s a really neat feature that dynamically changes each tiny area of the map. On the other, I get that it doesn’t really necessarily make sense with Star Wars.

I don’t know, I suppose it would be neat to blow a hole in the side of the Mos Eisley Cantina in order to reveal the location of a few squatters. Maybe that’s just me.

Star Wars: Battlefront will launch for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms on Nov. 17, 2015.
