Nintendo’s delay of Star Fox Zero put a bit of a damper on its holiday line up, but fans won’t have to wait an incredibly long time to finally play it. During the Nintendo Direct broadcast last night, the company announced that the game would be released in North America on April 22, just in time for the summer doldrums.

Originally, it was scheduled to be released on Nov. 20, but Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto delayed it, stating “we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens.” To fill in the gap, Nintendo instead turned to Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash.

As for Star Fox Zero, the April date seems about right. Platinum Games will have enough time to deliver its typical flair and polish, and maybe by then, gamers will have wrapped up Xenoblade Chronicles X. That’s a huge maybe, though. I don’t think that five months will be enough for that.

Star Fox Zero will be released for the Wii U on April 22 for the Wii U.
