Square Enix has followed up yesterday's Hitman HD: Trilogy leak from Amazon by confirming the release today. Hitman Absolution is performing quite well in Square Enix's eyes, and there's no better time to get the uninitiated up to speed with Agent 47's previous endeavors.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, and Hitman: Blood Money are all interesting games designed for the most meticulous of gamers. A widespread release could potentially turn off those who found the streamlined formula of Hitman: Absolution comfortable. On the other hand, a little exposure couldn't hurt if newcomers realize that these are old games.

I would recommend Blood Money for first timers because the older games are particularly taxing on patience and nerves. It's the most balanced between the criteria of modern games and the series' classic sensibilities.
