Nintendo isn’t skimping on the single player portion of Splatoon 2 with the new game preparing a whole new “Hero Mode” for fans who need a break from the usual multiplayer grind.
“Hero Mode” will take players outside of running and gunning and add a few puzzles and other ideas in between the bits of storytelling. Nintendo gave a quick look into this mode during its Nintendo Direct presentation yesterday.
“Callie—of Squid Sisters fame—has gone missing and it’s up to you, with the help of Marie, to search for Callie and the Great Zapfish while battling against the Octarian army. Use different weapons in single-player mode to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies and take down towering bosses – weapons like the Roller, Slosher, Splatling, or the new Dualies.
Splatoon is still a new frontier for me
I own a Wii U, but I never got around to playing the first Splatoon. I think that I’m in for a treat with this new one, especially because my Switch is seeing so much more playtime than my previous generation Nintendo console. Taking it to a party with a group of other friends who bring theirs, sounds like a ton of fun. Can’t wait to give it a try!
As for the story mode, I don’t think it will be that hard to catch up on the deep canon of squid kids and their squirt guns, will it? Marie also looks like a really fun character.
Splatoon 2 will be released on July 21 for the Nintendo Switch.
