Earlier this week, we learned that Splatoon 2 is getting both LAN support and a spectator mode. Both features are major components for games looking for success on the esports market.
Now, we have a video of a full match in Splatoon 2 captured at 60fps on the Nintendo Switch that features the spectator mode. Here’s the vid.
Well, great, now I’m excited for Splatoon 2
Oh, it’s not that I didn’t want the game before. I did. I was definitely going to get the sequel the moment it was announced, but its relative silence sort of made it easy to ignore. Out of sight, out of mind.
Now I’ve watched the full match above. Admittedly, the spectator mode isn’t something I really care about. I won’t be playing Splatoon 2 competitively, and I likely won’t ever LAN it up with nearby friends or frienemies. The truth is, I’m sharing the news because I know some readers are jazzed for this stuff.
Me? I’m pumped simply because Nintendo’s sticking with a completely new IP that did well for them on the Wii U. Splatoon was special, and seeing Splatoon 2 in motion for more than three minutes has me supremely excited.
The game is due out this summer.
