One of the most important aspects of any new James Bond film has arrived: The debut of the theme song for SPECTRE is upon us.

For decades now, the release of a new James Bond theme song has become as big of an event as the release of the film itself. Speculation runs rampant for months in advance as to who will perform the song. That announcement happens, and then it becomes a waiting fame for the track itself to make its debut.

This time around the title song for SPECTRE, the 24th film in the series, is performed by Sam Smith and is entitled “Writing’s on the Wall.” You can take a listen to it now via Spotify.

Smith has a lot to live up to with Adele’s “Skyfall” being considered by many to be one of the best Bond theme songs ever. Only time will tell how this one ends up ranking in the overall pantheon of the greats.

SPECTRE launches in the U.K. on Oct. 26, and in the U.S. on Nov. 6.
