Sony hasn't officially revealed anything for God of War IV. In fact, they haven't even confirmed the possibility that a brand new entry in the main line of God of War games is even being made.

That doesn't mean, however, that rumors suggesting the game is in development are any less abundant. BT Games, a South African game retail location, is actually taking pre-orders for the next in Kratos' immortal struggle. They have God of War IV slated for a February of 2013 release date.

Normally, we'd likely pass over this rumor in the gaming headlines and set blasters to "ignore" before moving on. Retailers do all sorts of silly things with confirmed and unconfirmed game all the time; for instance, GameStop called Sony's The Last Guardian "cancelled" and told pre-order holders to ditch the product. There's normally no reason to cite these rumors.

However, with BT Games, the opposite is true. This South African retail locale actually has a history of outing games before developers and publishers have a chance. The shop also revealed that Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer and the existence of a Jak and Daxter Collection for the PlayStation 3.

With that said, this rumor has a little more credit to its existence. Are we ready to color it "confirmed?" No, absolutely not. But we are ready to give it a look and file it in the memory banks for later.

After all, God of War is one of Sony's most successful franchises; the company would be crazy to not be working on God of War IV. We may hear about this game as early as this year's E3. We'll keep you posted.
