After a hiatus and dabble in free-to-play, the legendary fighting franchise SoulCalibur is digging back to its roots with SoulCalibur VI and recruiting many of its most iconic fighters to aid in the comeback. This weekend at EVO 2018, Bandai Namco announced that two veterans of the series will be returning to the upcoming fighting game: the series’ longtime villain Asteroth and… gulp… Seong Mi-Na.
(My teenage heart just skipped a beat)
Asteroth was already expected by fans to return since he has been in every game since the Dreamcast masterpiece, SoulCalibur. However, Seong Mi-Na is a much appreciated addition to the roster seeing that she didn’t make the cut in SoulCalibur V.
Yeah, I didn’t bother picking up SoulCalibur V either. Without the Naginata wielding warrior, SoulCalibur just doesn’t matter all that much. She has been my favorite character ever since the original Soul Edge, back when she stole my 12-year-old heart and looked like this.
PlayStation graphics at their finest. Good times, good times.
SoulCalibur VI will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 19.
