Bandai Namco has added another fan favorite character to the roster of its upcoming fighting game, SoulCalibur: Lost Souls. Taki, the demon slaying ninja, has been both stealing and piercing hearts since her debut back on the original PlayStation fighter, and it just wouldn’t be a proper SoulCalibur game without her.

SoulCalibur: Lost Swords is taking the series in a brand new direction. Much like Bandai Namco did with Tekken Revolution, this new entry will be entirely free-to-play. On the downside, there will be no multiplayer. I can write that little fact over and over again, and I still have problems believing it.

To give it a twist though, this single player fighting game will focus more on the equipment and grinding to build armor and suits for your hero of choice. SoulCalibur has always come with robust single player and story modes, and in that regard, it doesn’t stray too far from its proven formula.

Taki is one of four confirmed characters who will be playable from the start of the game. She joins other long time characters Siegfried, Mitsurugi and Sophitia as the default choices. Other familiar faces will join along once they are unlocked in the quest mode like the ever popular dominatrix Ivy or series villain Nightmare.

SoulCalibur: Lost Swords has been available in Japan since February, but no word has been said about the release date overseas. Spring 2014 is the best we could find for Europe. We’ll let you know more when we find out.
