If you’re yet to try 3D gaming on the PlayStation 3, I highly recommend it. It takes a little while to get used to, and you have to wear those big, unsightly glasses, but Black Ops is certainly better when tomahawks look like they’re really coming towards you. If you’re TV isn’t 3D compatible, then Sony has a new PlayStation-branded set headed to the U.K. this fall, priced at £499 (approx. $827).

The 24-inch set will be bundled with two pairs of PlayStation-branded 3D glasses, which are said to be a cheaper version of its active shutter glasses for its BRAVIA 3D TV line, and will also be compatible with 3D sets from other manufacturers, according to TechRadar.

The 3D PlayStation TV was first announced by Sony at this year’s E3 event, which it says is “designed to give the ultimate gaming experience.” Unlike some 3D TV sets, the PlayStation TV allows two players to see two different 3D images on the same screen using Sony’s awesome SimulView technology.

The set also includes a built-in subwoofer, a 4ms response time, edge-LED lighting, and frame-sequential 3D that allows you to watch 3D Blu-ray films. That’s an impressive list of specs, but with a £500 price tag, it isn’t exactly cheap.

I like the idea of Sony’s 3D PlayStation TV, especially with that SimulView technology, but I won’t be rushing out to buy one — not until that price comes down a bit.

What do you think of the price? Will you buy one?
