Just in time for the summer months, Sony has announced a new handset that will certainly appeal to the beach bums across the world. Known as the Xperia ZR, Sony's new handset features "the highest level of water-resistance," allowing users to capture photos and video in water up to 5 feet deep. The camera itself is a 13-megapixel Exmor RS image sensor, and there's a handy dedicated camera button for quick shooting.
The water-resistant/camera combo will obviously be the device's biggest draw, but the ZR doesn't skimp on specs or design. Equipped with a 4.6-inch HD Reality display, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB of RAM, NFC and LTE, the ZR is a phone that will get you through a hard day's work and will also endure your active lifestyle. Going for a quick surf session? You can take your ZR along with you, because why not? Tweet: Surfing at The Wedge; picture.
Other features include HDR support, Battery STAMINA Mode, multiple color choices and Walkman album and movie applications. The ZR also has an OptiContrast panel which Sony says is sufficiently viewable in bright sunlight. No precise date or price has been attached to the device, but Sony said it'll be available during Q2 around the globe.
