Sony has at least three new smartphones coming down the pipeline according to new information that spilled on a Chinese forum recently. One poster said that the devices are currently code named Pegasus, Aries and Leo, though did not provide any information on the new devices other than they are more than likely more than two months from launch.
That's actually a bit of a hint, however, since September is just over two months away from now, and that's when the IFA trade show kicks off in Berlin. Last year Sony used the show to unveil the Xperia Z1. Since the Xperia Z2 was announced in Barcelona back in February, it's possible that one of the code named devices above is the Xperia Z3, which might make its debut in Berlin. The other two devices may be mid-range phones designed to meet the more affordable market, or we might see an official Xperia Z2 Compact at the exact same time – we really don't know.
We do know, however, that there's room for Sony to improve its handsets in the coming months. With the LG G3 out now with its Quad HD display, it's possible Sony will want to match that with a Quad HD handset of its own. It's also possible we'll see the Snapdragon 805 processor inside the phone, which is likely to hit the next flood of new high-end smartphones.
TechnoBuffalo will be at IFA in Germany, so if any of these devices are there you can be sure we'll have the coverage.
