Yesterday’s match-up saw the paring of the Moto X vs. the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S5. It may surprise some users but the Moto X won quite handedly. We could chock it up to not many voters having checked out the Galaxy S5, since it has yet to officially launch. Though you have to give the Moto X credit for being one of the most pleasant Android devices to use.
Today we pitting another pair of great devices. The newly announced Sony Xperia Z2 and the Windows Phone phablet, Nokia Lumia 1520. The Sony Xperia Z2 is the follow up to the Z1 and the Z1s, and by all accounts is an updated, upgraded version of its brethren, with the addition of 4K video. Ooooohhhh Ahhhh! While you wouldn’t have seen this device in the wild, it does look and feel much like its Xperia equivalents.
The Nokia Lumia 1520, announced last fall, is the first Windows phone phablet from Nokia and it doesn’t disappoint. In fact, I felt it was slightly more pleasant to use a phablet Windows phone than its more “normal” sized form factor. What can you expect from the Lumia 1520? A gorgeous, large display, 3400 mAh battery, and a 20MP camera.
So who do you think the winner will be? Sony Xperia Z2? Nokia Lumia 1520? You choose.
Xperia Z2 Hands-On
The Xperia Z2 has a brilliant 5.2-inch 1080p screen, and unlike earlier flagships it doesn’t have the filmy-look on top that helps prevent it from water damage. We love the aluminum stripes running down the sides, though in general we didn’t feel overly blown away holding this as opposed to the Xperia Z1 – in terms of change.
Sony Xperia Z2 Specs
- 5.2-inch TILUMINOS Display
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- 2.3 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974AB Quad-core
- 3GB RAM
