We’ve been quietly enjoying our time with the Xperia Z2 Tablet, which is set to go on sale in just a few days. It definitely falls on the higher end of the tablet spectrum, especially with the competition going smaller and cheaper. But there’s plenty to like in Sony’s paper-thin package, number one being the immaculate hardware. If you are comfortable shelling out the $499 for a 16GB model, this might be among the best Android tablets you can find.

The Z2 Tablet almost doesn’t seem real the first time you pick it up. It’s too light, and too thin (in a good way), like you’re just holding onto a production shell waiting to be stuffed with guts. On the inside, Sony’s tab is fitted with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, 6000mAh battery and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. In addition, the device comes equipped with a S-force Front Surround audio, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The device is waterproof rated IP55/58 as well, and some Sony perks, including PlayMemories Online and PlayStation certification.

We’ll be forming our thoughts about the Z2 soon. In the meantime, check out our unboxing for a quick rundown, and stay tuned for future coverage.
