Sony hasn't officially revealed if or when some of its newer flagship smartphones, including the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, will get the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. However, new rumors suggest that both of the aforementioned devices will skip Android 4.3 Jelly Bean entirely.
According to SonyViet.vn, the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra will "leapfrog" from Android 4.2.2 to Android 4.4 KitKat. Meanwhile, Sony's other devices, including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR and Xperia ZL, will move to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. While some manufacturers, such as HTC, have provided time-frames as to when to expect the updates, Sony has so far been mum on a release date.

On Nov. 1, however, Sony tweeted that it's excited for KitKat and that it will provide news on Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 KitKat in the coming week. We're closing in on a full week since Nov. 1, so we should hear some sort of confirmation soon.
