Seth Killian Interview

Seth Killian, known primarily for his work with Street Fighter and the fighting game community, announced in June his departure from his role as Capcom's Community Manager and Strategic Marketing Director. Finally, Killian has revealed his destination via Sony's PlayStation.Blog.

As Lead Game Designer, Killian will work with outside studios, "teams like Queasy Games (Sound Shapes), Fun Bits Interactive (Escape Plan), thatgamecompany (Flower, Journey), and… SuperBot Entertainment, makers of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale!"

The addition of Killian to the All-Stars team is, in part, the latest in Sony's effort to prove its upcoming brawler isn't just fanservice. Here's what Killian wrote in his inaugural blog post:

The entire team was put together from scratch to create this game, and they are loaded with fighting game super stars (including some impressive tournament credentials—I'm not even the first EVO finalist to join the team!) who love great combat just as much as I do…

As Killian mentions, he has some rather impressive credentials going in. A co-founder of the EVO championships, himself a finalist as well, Killian also spent the last six years promoting and growing the community around the Street Fighter games—especially Street Fighter 4, the final boss of which is named after him.

While Killian won't be working exclusively with the All-Stars team, it certainly lends further hope that the title will be a tournament-quality game that can stand the test of time and a thorough beating from gamers.

Killian ends his post with a tease, saying some hands-on time is coming soon, "starting with PlayStation's first official presence at EVO this weekend."
