Over the last few days, a quote from SCEE President Jim Ryan was floating around that concerned the fate of Driveclub's PS Plus Edition. We chose to ignore it at TechnoBuffalo, mostly because it seemed to us that the quote was being misconstrued.

When asked about the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub and if there is "still going to be the free" version, Ryan said "that's still being looked at." When pressed about it and asked if he can or can't guarantee the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub, Ryan simply said "I can't say anything at this stage."

Some sites and gamers took Ryan's lack of a stance to put the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub in doubt. That Ryan said "I can't say anything at this stage" meant to some that "Sony can't guarantee Driveclub: PS Plus Edition will ever happen." Literally.

Look, that's not the case. The flames have spread far enough, and now Sony has issued a statement regarding the future of Driveclub and its free edition. This comes from Eurogamer.

"We are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible…

…Although currently we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch."

It's coming. When is it coming? Sony's not sure, but it is working on it. In the meantime, I hear the game has become much more enjoyable with the added updates. That's something to look forward to.
