Console manufacturers have, it seems, really taken to unboxing their own hardware. We saw Nintendo do it way back before the Wii U launched, and then Microsoft unboxed the Xbox One this past summer.

Today, Sony does the same with the PlayStation 4.

The unboxing is just fine, but the set up for the scene is incredibly cheesy. I feel like Sony was going for a nuclear bunker sort of vibe, and it turns out like an unboxing my dad would watch in the middle of a Sunday afternoon on the Syfy Channel.

It's actually the same set from Daft Punk's Random Access Memories unboxing. Columbia Records is a division of Sony. Daft Punk sits below the Columbia label. That's a pretty nifty little nerd Easter Egg, if you ask me.

The PlayStation 4 drops this Friday. Are you getting one?
