New alleged pictures of Sony's upcoming 20-megapixel smartphone, codenamed Honami, have surfaced, further showing that an extra camera hump—ahem, Lumia 1020—is not always necessary. Judging from the pictures, Sony's new handset is keeping a slim profile despite the rumored 20-megapixel Exmor sensor being included—it looks a lot like the company's Xperia Z, which recently launched in the U.S. on T-Mobile.
An earlier report from this month revealed the device may come equipped with a Xenon flash, but this latest leak shows nothing of the sort—perhaps this is simply a prototype. Little else has surfaced regarding Sony's mysterious handset; it looks like there's a large speaker grille on the bottom, but other than that not much is known. The person who snapped the pictures didn't provide any internal details; it's as difficult as it is verifying the authenticity of the photos.
One thing that's remained constant is the device's slim profile despite the 20-megapixel shooter. Honami leaks have been filtering out more frequently as of late, so perhaps we'll see more in the coming days and weeks. A 20-megapixel sensor certainly sounds nice, especially on an Android handset, but will it best the Lumia's huge 41-megapixel sensor? That remains to be seen.
